Our Development Partners - Lixar, Primus and ServiceVantage

When PRS decided to migrate our PracticalPRS performance measurement software to a Software as a Service (SaaS) model, we knew we needed three things:

  1. A new software development partner, with expertise in SaaS development

  2. A new model for client engagement, since SaaS is not traditional 'acquire and install' software, nor is it exactly a 'professional services' engagement;

  3. And, perhaps most importantly, world-class secure hosting and support, to make sure clients' data remains safe and private.

And, we wanted these partners to be both Canadian-owned and Canadian-located, as an added layer of assurance.

After some searching (and researching), we believe we've found some of the 'best in breed' in each category.

Established in 2000, Lixar has a broad and diverse client list, ranging from small and medium size business to large scale enterprise sized clients to NGOs, Telcos, Health & Lifestyle organizations, Festivals and Automotive, Airline and Energy Companies. Lixar is Canadian-owned and located, with offices in Ottawa and Halifax, and more than 80 employees.

Lixar was our choice both for their technical expertise as well as their understanding of business challenges. We're extremely pleased with their migration of Performance Reporter v1.0 to an SaaS platform as PracticalPRS.

Primus operates 7 world-class, state-of-the-art Data Centres across Canada, including in Ottawa. Our research showed they are a leading national full-service communications provider, offering Voice, Access, Hosting, IP connectivity, disaster recovery and Business Continuity solutions to over 60,000 Canadian companies.

They offer state-of-art security, a multiply-redundant network infrastructure, UPS systems and a high capacity generator, a redundant cooling system and fire suppression system - in short, the best provider to host PracticalPRS we could find.

If you or your Departmental IT group would like to know more about our secure hosting through Primus, or to receive a technical spec, please Contact PRS

The truth is, PracticalPRS can only be successful if our clients are successful. So we found ServiceVantage to help us design the service and support model to make acquiring and using PracticalPRS a satisfactory experience for our clients.

ServiceVantage helped us figure out an effective 'on-boarding' process to support the quick uptake and usage of PracticalPRS. This helps to ensure that our clients will rapidly receive business value from adopting our system for data collection, analysis and reporting.

They also helped us figure out a 'lifecycle support' model, to ensure on-going satisfaction with our services.

That's the PracticalPRS team; we're delighted to have found some great Canadian companies right here in Ottawa to support our goal of business intelligence without breaking the bank for our public sector clients.
